SSSnake, whilst I agree with you that Dave Grohl is nothing special on the drums... I seriously have to disagree with your thoughts on Bonham. Jonh Bonham is one of the greatest drummers ever to have played rock music. Most modern rock drummers (myself included) cite Bonham as a massive influence. Some of things he did with Led Zep defined rock drumming.

In terms of drumming, there are very few who have (IMO) influenced rock and metal.

Neil Peart - Rush: Whilst a lot of their songs could be considered nothing more than drum solos with a tune, technically the guy is astounding!

Alex Van Halen - Van Halen: He managed to combine sheer technique with drumming that actually fitted the song - something which I feel Peart has alway lacked.

Lars Ulrich - Metallica: Not the greatest drummer, but his triplet bassdrum work set the tone for a whole host of thrash drummer imitators.

Cozey Powel (RIP) - many bands: His triplet work was something to hear - truly an evolutionist for rock drumming.

John Bonham (RIP) - Led Zepplin: Invented rock/metal drumming. If you don't know what I mean, check out some of Led Zep's albums and prepare to be blown away!

Without the aforementioned drummers, you wouldn't hear what you do today. But Bonham is the man - he invented rock/metal drumming...
