Depends on the genre. For example I don't think mixing games from different genres only because I like them would make them good games. Remaining on a sinlge genre (for example RPG) I'd say that mixing anything of FFVII with a battle system like the one of Grandia, for example, would imrove battles, that are the only thing to get boring after some time in rpgs like FF.
