I found it a lot easier. I still think FF8 junctions were much more complicated than Sphere Grid system to upgrade your character.
Now you just have to fight and earn spheres, while before you had to do at the same time lots of things to improve different aspects of the character.
Sorry, but I found it a lot easier.
