I completely agree with meryl's and Bhcdarkness' posts. I wouldn't have said it better.
And about MTV, they rarely let you know anything similar to good music. Few are the exceptions, and they're usually bands that are both good but also really famous. Regarding new bands that also play good music, watching MTV is the worst thing to do if you have any kind of interest in this field.
