Well, if you don't trust people it's impossible for them to get closer and know what you really think. This means you avoid these situations, right? Because you feel you can't trust them. But it's like choosing to be alone, because if you don't let people to get closer to you, they'll never be able to make you feel accepted among them, even if there are few people who would be happy to know you a little better.
