Since the topic was about hot men, I was only suggesting how scary was idea of considering Gandalf hot. I wasn't saying you actually told us Gandalf is hot. Don't think only in black and white terms meryl, or you'll feel embarassed dozens of times for silly reasons, while nobody was meaning to tell you anything wrong...
Ian McKellen is really different in real life too, I've seen a couple of photos and he seems the typical british actor of theatre. Also Viggo Mortensen seems terribly different without the beard and the long hair. And he's so much older that I was expecting! The only one who looks almost identical in the real life is Ian Holm
Oh and: meryl, I would consider Christopher Lee the same way you considered Ian McKellen, but in an evil way... Not only because he's Saruman, but because his career is full of evil roles, so I guess you can see the evilness of his characters only looking at his face
And about Legolas, I don't find him particularly attractive. He's kinda cute from some points of view, but saying he's hot is too much only for pointy ears... My cat has pointy ears, but I don't call him "hot"
