I think this point is very important. Videogames are usually considered to be a form of entertainment for the younger audience, or a way to waste time. They're not considered a form of culture at all. At least for the present moment. In Japan, where videogames are a very important part of their national culture (as anime and manga, which outside Japan suffer from the same prejudice), they're considered in a different way, and players are not considered as people who only like to "waste their time in a completely unuseful hobby".
