I really like Japanese samurai flicks, especially movies by Kurosawa Akira (
Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Ran, Rashomon, etc.).
My exposure to Japanese cinema has been limited pretty much to samurai or fedual Japanese period pieces, so I can't really say much about what I think of contemporary Japanese film.
