I completely agree with meryl: many people around the world listen to this kind of music, even if they're not Japanese and even if they cannot speak a single word of japanese language. You're free to like it or not, but there's no need to be harsh with the ones who like this music. Everyone is free to choose among all the music artists available and if for example someone likes Indian Folk music, you don't hve to say you like it if you don't.
I'd suggest only one banal thing: before you think what others like is crap, it's better for you to give it a try. Then you can decide which one you like the best.
I can't stand those who like to criticize others' taste without knowing anything about it.
