Very true! You said it so well! If you look at the Moomins from this perspective, they definitely have a "disturbing" feel to them.They're not like average children books, with anthropomorphic animals etc. They exceed that. But without completely going off limits. Add to it the Scandinavian touch, the Scandinavian way of perceiving natural elements, the personification of Nature and its mysterious aspects. It's very peculiar.
