My favorite bosses are The Sorrow and The Boss (personality-wise)...but if you're talking about actual gameplay, then I would choose The Boss, The End, The Sorrow, The Fear, The Fury, then The Pain...The Pain was exactly like his name...a pain because he's so annoying.

You have a point there...but I think these superpowers the bosses have adds challenge to the game despite being an "realistic" sort of setting/tone. Yet, The End's boss fight was rather normal and real...and that turned out to be one hell of a challenge...so yeah, I get what you're saying. Still, I liked the bosses superpowers.

And yes, play MGS2 (you'll need to in order to understand MGS4) but like Vic said, be alert for long cutscenes.
