I think it's so stupid how this film, which is based on a British book, is probably the last to be shown in the UK. It's just so ridiculous.
I had very, very fortunate luck the other night. My sister had taped this "NHK Song Concert" on the Japanese TV channel NHK (my parents wanted to subscribe to Taiwanese news channels, so we decided to get the Japanese station). This concert is where folk singers (enka) come on and sing songs and perform. As a special guest, that night, they asked Chieko Baisho (the voice actor for Sophie in the film) to come on and sing the main theme called Sekai no Yakusoku (The Promise of the World). Oh man, what another great song by Joe Hisaishi. It has such a melancoly melody and it was just great.
