Heavy metal, eh? I must admit that I'm not really a fan. I only like and listen to a few bands. I suppose you can say that I'm more for the classic rock, heavy rock, no punk rock, british rock type of stuffs.
In any case, let's see if I can think of any for the sub genres:
Heavy Metal: Iced Earth
Black Metal: Mystic Forest
Death Metal: Six Feet Under
Gothic Metal: Lacuna Coil
Thrash Metal: Exodus
Symphonic Metal: Adagio... not sure if it classifies as such 
Power Metal: ...
Nu Metal: Godsmack + Sevendust
Industrial Metal: ...
