Well, I don't quite remember (since it's been so long and I have a bad memory), but I think

Lance and the Sonny guy made a deal together where Lance would get a cut of the money that Vercetti made. If they both get rid of Vercetti, Lance would get the money, some estate, etc. He would be a rich, made man.
