naw, I dont mean they need to be in limited vocab
I really liked Canibus for some time, when he was underground...but then I got tired of him constantly doing mathematical jargon/ metaphysical sience/ jramma lamma ding dong in every one of his songs. I still have most of the songs he did which just are to dope to put away for good but cant say that I'm a fan anymore
and to put it more clearly, the underground rap scene isnt filled with vocabulary filled jargon...its present, but thats not what bothers me
to me, it sounds like intangible aspects of things...instead of saying how he feels about work, Aesop Rock would say
"Zoom in to the fuming of an aggravated breed
Via the study of post-adolesent agitated seeds
Half the patients wasted self pride at Commencement
So I focus on the urban Oxygen samples, the hot that made it breathe
They sold Pompeii impression, waste infections
And twelve steps to lesson"
sounds like poetry, but guess what? I'm not interested to the point where I'll buy an album. Hip hop is so weird now, everything practically sucks but it all has its place so hip hop cant be without it
sampling is getting ridiculous but still delivers some nice tracks
party music is repetetive, but what else am I going to dance to?
obscure music is too obscure and it boderlines jibberish, but still is worth while if you like sitting down to pick stuff apart
ODB died today, I just found out (while typing this no less) and I cant help to wish hip hop was back in the 90's again...Wu, Big, Pac, Pun all running things along with todays still here artists Redman, Mos Def, Snoop, Jay, Nas, Em. I cant even imagine how great it would be to listen to albums and radio if that were the case
but you know....I might still have a problem with it for some reason or other
blah, dont mind me...I'm a jaded hip hop fan thats upset that there arent many blends of intelligent and entertaining emcees anymore
