Hehe, being that FF8 was my first FF game, I didn't think much of the Junction system. In fact, I thought all the FF games had this system. But, like you said, I really enjoyed it and thought it was very unique. Of course, it was confusing at first, but it soon becomes second-nature...at least to me.

This could be one of the reasons. But, what I heard was, FF8 wasn't popular because of the theme of love and the storyline...I heard that many couldn't stand the relationships and the story was just too "boring."

How right you are. Rinoa was a real turnoff at the beginning...I don't deny she's perfect for Squall but omg...at times, I just wanted to wring her neck. And this is another reason why FF8 wasn't popular with people: the characters. Do you guys know how many anti-Squall and anti-Rinoa (<-- this the most) pages there are out there? Many people didn't like Squall's "I-don't-give-a-damn-about-anyone" attitude and no one liked Rinoas "I'm-the-cute-and-ditzy-girl-who-gets-the-handsome-main-character-Squall" personality. Yeah...and some people didn't like Zell (he was my favorite! But people hated his temper and his corny jokes) and no one liked Selphie ("Too bubbly and obnoxious!" was one comment) and no one liked Irvine (I think he was too "cowboy"). I think the only two characters everyone liked were Seifer and Quistis. The two I didn't like. Go figure.
