Yeah, in a way, I didn't think it was possible either because otherwise, what's the point of language dictionaries and all that?  I just hoped this was possible because it would make my life a whole lot easier (instead of finding each character one-by-one in the JP-ENG Dictionary, then typing it up in Japanese, then translating it online.
