I'm happy for the dog you could save. And sad for the dog you couldn't save.
The worst, if I can say so, part of the story, not to sound even more pathetic, is that now there are three kittens in my house that don't and won't know their mother isn't coming back. I know animals can live without their mother, especially when they live at home with somebody who's taking care of them (plus, I have another female cat with little kittens and it won't be a problem for her to take care of other three of them as they were her own). She was so overprotective, she wouldn't let anybody touch her kittens while she was around. Now they're not used to be left alone for a long time, without a guide or protection. I am probably putting too muh human feeling into this question, but looking at them they seemed to be a little "low" and sort of "confused", because as I said they are not used to be alone all time.
Ok, stop ranting now. Life goes on and nature will fix this too with the passing of time. Nature always tends to perfection, I suppose.
EDIT: one of the kittens died today
