Almost certainly The third is probably my favorite book - before the books became kind of waffley, and when the characters were developed enough to mean that pages weren't sacrificed to go over things we already knew anyway. It sounds like the film is taking a similar philosophy as well - the new director is apparently dodging the whole "wow isn't hogwarts magical and oh so groovy!" style of the first two and getting down to buisness. Apparently, the kids have even improved their acting. Don't get me wrong - I love the first two (and in many ways prefer them to the snore-fest that LOTR can so often be) but they weren't really that great beyond the stories that they told - without the books as their basis, they were nothing. This third film sounds like they just might change that.
