Equivilent of Grade 7 and 8? O_o I suppose thats basically 1st / 7th Years and 2nd / 8th years. The kids over here are generally ok at that age... one or two "dilinquents" but they're just not cocky little arses... like they are in year 9 and 10! You should be just fine - the UK is often said to need good teachers, and i'm sure you'll be just great (one of the best teachers I ever had was American - he must have been good, because he taught RS and I actually found it remotely interesting!) Just one thing - stick an "s" on the end of "math"; it's suprising just how much one suffix can single out two dialects of the same language from each other ^^
How are your internet arrangements? I mean, what with all the different sockets you'll probably not even be able to plug your PC straight into the wall . You'll probably need a new ISP and stuff... broadband should be available if you're close to London, but the UK doesn't have as good coverage as elsewhere in the world... London is a nice city... a nice gradient of new and classical buildings, much like most European cities. If you're feeling arty-farty, there are plenty of Theatres and the Tate gallery is free entry. If you can bare the modern art in there . Perhaps the Millenium Eye would be a nice place to soak up London - it's a giant Ferris-Wheel type thing which is pretty much the best vantage point for seeing all the cities' landmarks... The social gap shouldn't be too massive. We speak the same language and have common roots and stuff. Even our TV is a mix of Britsh and American programmes, so some of the popular stuff from home may just be on. Otherwise, you can watch the soaps (if you're insane ^^) or see some British Comedy... though apparently, a lot of our humour is just too obscure to be funny on the otherside of the ocean!
