This is one of the greatest things I've ever seen.

Has anyone else watched it yet?

If you've never heard of it, it's the new anime by Shinichiro Watanabe (who was also behind Cowboy Bebop). It's sort of similar in feel but has a very different plot. The setting is feudal Japan but judging by a little bit of dialogue in might be in the Meiji Era when feudalism was ending. The style is pretty different visually and musically as the drawings are based more on the manga (if you've ever seen the Bebop manga, it looks a lot like that) and the music isn't focused on jazz, swing and blues but instead, hip-hop.

Surprisingly, it actually works as the music is more reminiscent of conscious and underground hip-hop so it still maintains an instrumental flare to it.

The characters from the first episode were two ronin named Mugen and Jin and a waitress named Fuu. The character design is really good and it looks like the interaction should be interesting throughout the series. I'm pretty sure it's not going to be episodic but I can't be sure as the first episode was only about how the three cross paths and start to know each other.

The fight scenes are incredible though. They're animated beautifully and the mix of music and action is just as good as Bebop.

Anyway, if you have the means check it out. The next episode will be sometime mid next week so hopefully the quality will continue.
