I just heard this on MuchNews an hour or two ago and it's terrible!
Nick Oliveri has left Queens of the Stone Age which was always a band that was based on a partnership between himself (bassist) and Josh Homme (singer and lead guitarist).
Apparently Josh is putting together a new line-up regardless but this is still pretty bad.
