What I'm not understanding is why it's coming out this year, and why only a four disc set..

In previous interviews, George Lucas stated he didn't want to release the classic trilogy on DVD until after Ep. III was finished. He's said he wanted to devote all his time to making the classic trilogy DVDs 'change the way people think about DVD'.

Obviously he hasn't done this.

There is a wealth of extra material available for the classic trilogy - I mean you have the original and the special editions to consider. My SSD: Executor Boxed Set comes with a tonne of extras (VHS).

I would have expected at the very least a 6 disc set - but it appears we're not to get this. I also think GL has missed an opportunity to include both original and special edition cuts in this boxed set. I mean, Greedo shooting first totally ruins all the other good stuff that was added.

I wouldn't be suprised if a 'super' 6 (or more) disc version is released at some point (maybe even a 12+disc set with I-VI) in the future after Ep. III is done with...

But knowing me (it was once said that if they sold Wookiee poop on a stick, as long as it had 'limited edition' on it, I'd buy it!) I'll still go out and buy the bugger come November time...

Such is the life of a Star Wars addict...
