Only 98% of people can solve this within an hour...

Here's a little challenge for you.

Written by Mr. A. Einstein. He said that 98% were not able to solve it in less than an hour.

Facts:
a) There are 5 different houses, each of a different colour.
b) In each house lives one person, each of a different nationality.
c) Each person drinks a different drink, writes with a different instrument, and has a different animal for a pet.

Clues:
1.- The English lives in the red house.
2.- The Swedish has dogs.
3.- The Danish drinks tea.
4.- The green house is on the left side of the white house.
5.- The owner of the green house drinks coffee.
6.- The person that writes with Ticonderoga's # 2, has birds.
7.- The owner of the yellow house writes with Vinci crayons.
8.- The man that lives in the house located in the centre drinks milk.
9.- The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10.- The man that writes with Mapita colours, lives next to the one who has cats.
11.- The man that has horses lives next to the man who writes with Vinci crayons.
12.- The man who writes with Metrico pencils, drinks beer.
13.- The German writes with Dixon markers.
14.- The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15.- The man who writes with Mapita colours, has a neighbour that drinks water.

Question:
Who has the fish for pet?

For your reference it took me two goes and a total time of about 40 minutes...

Have fun!

I had to draw using different colors to solve this, lol :right:

Spoiler: show
I think the one who has fish as a pet is the German

BTW, I could solve it in less than one hour, heh...

I feel stupid, i'm still looking at the damn thing, one hour just passed. Still no clue. I mean, those retarded Dixon markers and that damn german (no offence)just won't line up.

nyways, perhaps if i wasn't on the computer, listining to loud music and talking to my friends, perharps i'd be done by now. Hell, i'll do it later.

Ok this took me about 10 minutes to set up and 30 minutes to think it through. So about 40 minutes all together.

Spoiler: show

1st House: Norwegian, Yellow, Water, Vinci Crayons, Cats
2nd House: Danish, Blue, Tea, Mapita Colors, Horses
3rd House: English, Red, Milk, Ticonderoga's #2, Birds
4th House: German, Green, Coffee, Dixon Markers, Fish*
5th House: Swedish, White, Beer, Metrico Pencils, Dogs

Ok, I checked it over and it appears to be right.

I thought about it and got the anser in about 2 minutes. I read PW's spoiler, very simple, very effective ;)

I got the answer in about a few seconds. But then again I just guessed and I didnt use any logic at all. Apparently I guessed right since it matches up with everyone else's answers.

Did you have to translate into another language? It shouldn't take 2 minutes to read the answer

28 min + about 5 min to make a "graphic table" ( which was completely useless! ) Gosh... I guess I'm freakin' special! :D

Total time = 33 min

... and to answer the question:

Spoiler: show
Wenn Sie dieses lesen können, wissen Sie, wem die Fische hat!

I'm too lazy to figure it out. How's THAT for smart?!?!! ;)

neomarik Oct 25th, 2003 10:49 PM

im with zoox!!!!!

Rei Oct 26th, 2003 08:09 AM

I'm with Zoox too...

I admit I couldn't, but I haven't tried for more than 10 minutes. I didn't like the idea of drawing and coloring like Hylas or guessing knowing this wasn't the purpose of the whole thing. I wanted to solve it without the need to write anything, but I have bad memory and kept on forgetting the clues so I gave up after a little time
