So would I. A major function of my current PS2 is as a DVD player. This new model would do very nicely.

...And I could put the 'old' one in the living room! PS2 in two rooms! Mwahahaha...

I guess they've been released now, theres a special notice on the box that shows them as the distinctive model. Dunno if I will pick one up, might have to wait and see if that rumored price drop of 99.99 in November really does go through.

Yeah, we (at BestBuy) recieved the new Ps2 like 4 days ago. Its cheaper then the bundle package. With progressive scan DVD player. And you can open the trey with the help of DVD remote and even shut it off. ......... Another feature is lower sound fan. On its box.......there is a Yellow color (PLUS + ) sign on it. To let you know that its the new PS2.

And yeah I am also waiting for the price to go down........I am pretty sure Sony would lower down the price to $99....for some time period. Cause when Nintendo did...............GameCube beat the other two systems right away (in Sales). Pretty sweet eh.

As soon as these bad boys drop down in price, I am going to pick one up for sure.
