Cost of a website

This is for one of my college courses this year, I wanted to know if anyone here has started there own webpage or knows roughly what they cost. It could either be just a basic page with information or a really well done site but any info of the cost would be a big help to me. Thanks in advance I know I'm not around as much as I used to be.

Depends on the host, on the type of service, on how much space you need and want to buy, if you need to buy the domain name as well or not etc...

Well. I have an account with Homestead I dont use. If I can remember the password and what not ill give it to you to use. I dont know if it would be sufficiant enough though. Its only a trial account (It lasts forever because I had Homestead back when it was free). The Limits are I can only create 3 pages and there are some extra (Useless) features I cant use. But Homestead is VERY basic. I mean, it doesent even use HTML. With some creativity you can create a neat looking little website. So hit me up if your interested in checking it out. It woudl save you some money. On AIM my SN is ViciousXZ84. Or just PM me. But there are other places that offer hosting for websites. You just need to browse and figure out whats right for you and in your price range

Well you have the cost of the domain, the webspace if you don't want a banner ad within the top or somewhere on the site, now if your talking about the creative process of a well done one, you wont find many people that just give away those for free just because of the amount of time that it takes to create one. But you can get templates and edit them. Now back to the cost of the well done ones very it really depends on who you go threw.

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. Do you mean how much it would cost to host a website (i.e. hosting space, domain name, databases, server-side scripting, etc). Or are you asking how much it would cost for someone to code a website for you?

For example, my own site costs me £55 per year for hosting and with that I get php, 10 MySQL databases, 200 Mb web space, 100 POP3 Email Accounts, bandwidth of 4000 Mb per month, 10 subd-domains and 10 domains (if I had 10 domain names of course) amongst other things... On top of that I pay £30 every two years for my domain name.

If you're asking about development costs it entirely depends on your requirements. My site has a custom content management system so authors can edit their own content within the browser. It took me some time to build everything for my site, and from my experiences in the industry I know it would have cost a couple of thousand pounds to have it built for me. However, a small and simple website could be knocked up in a few hours and therefore would not cost that much.

Without knowing what exactly you want it's hard to offer much advice.

Dunno if any of this has helped!
