Winter days

Winter is coming. Usually winter is not a much liked season, apart from the Christmas period. It's cold, it's not nice to wake up early to go to work or school when outside is all frozen or rainy or the sky is perpetually grey and cloudy. To not mention the fact you have to wear coats and boots or heavy clothes. You often regret summer days, even those who despise summer for the hot temperatures (lucky them, I like hot weather! I used to hate it, but now I LOVE IT! LOL!) sometimes say they would like to sunbathe instead of looking at the gloomy landscape of winter days :D

But I'm here not to talk about the depressing aspects of this season. I want you to share everything you like about winter. There must be something you like about it. It can be something m aterial, like snow or wrapping yourself in warm covers, or the colour and the smell of the fire (if you have a chimney it's a perfect example of what I mean!). You could post some memory involving this season, like something funny you did, or people you knew during this season.

Don't think I'm silly, I just like to listen to these kind of things. I like a lot other people's stories. I think in some cases they can warm you up, especially when days are getting shorter and rain is falling down :)

Oh I love winter. Snowmobiling, Snowboarding, Snow Ball Fights, Warm Halo Parties In My Cabin. Man I could go on. Probably my favorite season.

Rei Nov 24th, 2003 12:59 AM

I like winter too. I don't know if I can call it a fave season. Every season has something that makes me feel good. I admit summer is maybe the season I like less. I like cold weather. It's true that sometimes I find myself daydreaming about hot sunny days in the middle of a winter storm, but it's normal! After days and days you start thinking about it. At least I do.

I like a lot the colors of winter. They're very relaxing for the eye. And I used to love being at home while outside it was cold, because you can feel the warmth of the house. This brings memories of when I was little and I used to play all afternoons after finishing homeworks, with friends or alone. And I could drink hot tea and eat biscuits watching TV. It's a very peaceful memory of my childhood, even if not particularly original :D

Ah winter usally that meant going out and messing around with the snow and throw snow balls at fences as target practise:laugh:
but usally i like to put on my hoodie and curel up in a blanket playing videogames i have missed or havent played much. Although i really love winter its the season where i get a cough most of the time so thats really the only set back for me.

As long as it doesn't rain, snows or stroms I don't have a particular disliking about winter. Snow is beautiful, but not in the city it's bound to be this muddy brown like substance that has nothing to do with a white christmass.;)
But those clear blue sky winter days are beautiful and always make my day!!!

Winter is my favorite season. A freshly fallen snow looks so pretty and I never liked warm temperatures. If I spend too much time in the heat I get a headache. Maybe this winter I'd try my hand at snowbarding... I couldnt get myself to go on a skateboard but since oyu dont have to do that on a snowboard, it's all right!

I Love Winter!!

I can definitly say that Winter is my fave season by far!!
Not only because xmas is my fave holiday (and not because of presents) but I just love the smell, When I open the door for my dad as he gets home from work, the cripsy smell in the air, Ii love being wrapped up indoors, and I love the fact that it gets Dark early and stays dark longer in the mornings, Of course I feel sorry for the people who suffer from S.A.D Disorder, Because it cant be too fun for them.
I love being able to put my Furry Deerstalker style hat on, and wrap up in my scarf when I go out. I also love going to the coast and walking along the pier with my family and being freezing then having Fish and chips in a little cafe or in my dads van getting all warmed up again!
I love going to the ponds and seeing them all frozen over (If it gets cold enuff) and throwing stones across them.
I really do love everything about Winter!
Even when it doesn't snow! (which is quite often)

Winter for me can definately be a pain. I enjoy all the seasons at this point in my life because I feel like I have become more in tune with the Earth itself, but there is no denying the inconveniences that the snow causes. I have a great car in every sense of the phrase 'great car' except that it has rear-wheel drive. This is cool in all of the other seasons mind you, but in the winter it makes for some pretty tough driving. It is no where near as bad as the oldsmobile I used to drive that felt like boat in the slightest hint of ice, but it still makes me nervous. I live just far enough out of the way of a lot of conveniences and the nearest highway that it is an extremely large job to dig your way out of the snow this time of the year to be able to get to the places you need to go...including work! So, with all that said, maybe you can all understand my dislike for winter. Sometimes it gets so cold here it is ridiculous and I will never like that frigidness in the air. It just seems to do way more harm than good.

On a more positive note, a "winter wonderland" can be a truly beautiful looking thing around here. :)

I love the smell of the streets in winter days, and the atmosphere of this season. It's all calmer. But unluckily I suffer a lot when temperatures are too cold, even with layers and layers of clothing on, so I can't enjoy these days as I'd like to :(

i prefer the heat of summer, but i better enjoy this winter while i can, it will be a memorable one i just know it

Winter

Aww yes winter. Winter is fun except for the shoveling the snow part since there are no boys in my family. Grrrr. Anyways besides that winter is great. It gets me into the christmas spirit. Watching the snow fall is relaxing. I like to play in the snow with my dog, Sasha. She has short legs so she has to hop in the snow. She makes me laugh. My family and I decorated our tree and living room today. It looks beautiful. I wish you all could see it. Well im just going to say this now in case I dont get to later on ... I hope evryone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Be safe everyone! ;)

winter to me is great. Last night we had the most amazing snow fall, no wind was just below freezing *not to cold* and the snow just fell in nice big clumps to the ground. So beautiful.

Where I am you can't not like winter. If you don't you might as well pack up and head south. Although we do get a few months of summer, about 3 at the most, it seems like winter all the time. To me the seasons are..,

Almost Winter, Winter, Not as much winter, summer.

LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW

I agree moo: winter is not winter without snow ;)

Cannibal Clown Dec 15th, 2003 06:20 PM

I hate winter. Cold, snow in my shoes. Car freezing for too damn long. Tires slide when going too fast. Argh!!!

Can't go swiiming, leave the house in anything light enough to run around in and have fun. Nothing out there to do that's fun in the firtst place. And when i do find something, i come back with a drippy nise and freezing my ass off.

The sun goes down too damn fast, and gets up too damn late. What fun is that?

I could continue on with the mnay other resons why i hate winter. But i'll settle with what i said.

Gadzoox Dec 15th, 2003 06:35 PM

I'm glad you're such an optimist, Cannibal!! ;)

I love the smell of fires when you walk down the street!
Those big fluffy snow flakes tha are fun to catch on your tongue!
Coming in from a cold day and sitting by the fire with family and friends!
Hot chocolate!
Movie nights with friends and/or family!
and best of all... all those presents FOR NO REASON!!! XD
