its a god damn remote people, a remote... whats so revolutionary about this ??

:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

:roflmao: OMG! What is that?! Oh wow, that was a good 5 minute laugh. The fourth picture really took the cake...you have to be a multitasker to use it, LOL. I showed my sister the pics and she cracked up...she's bad at playing games, but so good with TV remotes so we joked she'll probably excel in every Revolution game. XD

I truly wonder how one will use this...uh, remote controller. Do you turn it sideways to play (hopefully). But from the screenshots, it looks like you don't so...you really are just handling a remote.

What is with the next-gen controllers? First PS3's banana-boomerang ones now this. XD

O_O!!!!!
And just when you think Nintendo may have a big comeback....
They turn around and spit in your face.

I wonder how people will play some of them old games on there....
"Shrugs" not my problem. I've already decided I wasn't touching this console.

A damn remote as a controller..... Just when you think controllers/consoles couldn't get any more crackish.

Maybe you folks should read this.

Interesting indeed. To be honest, I'm more interested than ever.

My reaction was scornful initially, until I read the part about the sensors. Seriously, this is pretty mainstream. The first reaction of plenty of people I've seen has become the phenomenon known as "Girly Steering", whereby people tilt the controller when turning corners or whatever, even though there is no actual benefit from doing so. Now they're catering to that, it's not a bad idea. The whole "Remote Control" thing isn't such a good idea IMO, but I don't think it should be entirely dismissed. The practical applications of a the controller that they mention (gold club, sword fighting etc.) a pretty interesting.

"Revolution" has always been a massively pretentious name to give the console, and I believe that's still the case, but they're certainly doing something different, for better or worse...

Ah, okay, good then. :phew: Before reading the article, I was seriously doubting the ability of the controller...but after reading about the sensors, it seems like an interesting concept. However, I can't entirely disregard the fact that a remote looking controller can give the wrong ideas/impressions. Also, while the idea of sensors and using the controllers as a wand seems like a nice idea, I wonder how far that can really go. Well, what am I talking about, the NDS is doing rather well with something similar so I guess the Revolution ones might be alright.

DSgamer Sep 17th, 2005 01:35 AM

I'm digging this, and this actualy isnt sarcasm :)

Redpyramidhead Dec 12th, 2005 05:03 PM

Yeah, I find it to be an interesting concept, too. When I first saw it, I was like wtf!? But then I read about it. Well, I am still not entirely convinced, but it's intriguing. The problems I can think of, though, have to do with the third party game programmers. The revolution could end up with none of the multi-platform hits that would be crucial to the success of the console, for one thing, because they would be impossible to port over with a user friendly control scheme. And second of all, how can Nintendo be so sure that programmers will be so willing to make games specifically designed for use with this controller? Its a serious financial risk on everybody's part.

If you could hold this controller sideways and it had a more conventional button layout or if a more conventional controller came with the Revolution, then maybe people wouldn't be so skeptical, but I have heard nothing about such a thing.

Nintendo definately has balls, though

_RED_ stuff

Nintendo Has Teh Ballllllzzzzz

MakgSnake Feb 8th, 2006 12:35 PM

Hahaha, NINTENDO has the balls. Intresting, we all think they do and they should.

Its a nice blend of gaming and something different, because as I see it, 360 and PS3 are similar consoles, same way of playing and all, and would have similar games. And now Nintendo is taking themselves out of the standard gaming war. They are being different which would be good for us. One day we would feel like have regular gaming, I could turn my 360 or Ps3 on, and if I feel like playing something totally different, I would turn to my Revolution. Variety is good for all of us. Its just like every fastfood making regular burgers and then McDonalds comes and creates A BIG MAC (Ok bad example, I just love BIGMACS. Sorry). :)

I am looking forward to this Machine. Simple as that.
