Didn't know if I should post this here or in the action area. What is this game like? I hear it's like a MMO, and I don't play those type of games.
I've been getting mixed opinions about the game, and no one has been able to explain the gameplay to me at all so I thought I'd ask here.

There are quite abit of .Hack games, I think right now there is at least five or six. With three games being based off the anime and the other two or three based off another anime in the same universe or something entirely different, it's really quite all convoluted.

But the .Hack games are what you would call make believe MMO games. The anime is in the universe of an online MMO played by real people but you see their anime game avatars at all times (at least from what I saw, I never really watched the show much but I got the general gist.) so the games take on that same feel, but it is a single player RPG mimicking an online MMO, so you'll see random AI running around acting like actual players, it really is all quite weird.

I think for all the games the combat is in real time hack'n'slash style, I know the newer ones look like they play like a Dynasty Warrior's game. But that's really all I know, I found the anime convoluted and too overly dramatic and preachy for its own good. Like the animes were trying to sound more overly important and "look at me saying big and obscure words, I'm important" kind of pretentious feel to it. That's what kept me away from the games, since they follow the same feel as the show. Entire thing seems like a waste of time to me. So sorry, I really don't know much about it, just what I've seen and heard about it over the years none of it really interested me much.

Honestly, I was bored to tears with the first one. I was sort of a fan of the anime and thought I'd give it a shot. Its your typical RPG without anything new or interesting. It might be worth a shot if you haven't seen the series.
