I don't know.... You tell me. I'm still playing the 1st one. Actually, I had no way to get to my local blockbusters..... fixing up my car. (stupid f**ckers crashing into my crap) Anyways, is it good, bad, or what? Release date was yesterday right?

I really haven't heard anything yet, but I guess the mods can best move this to the rpg-section were you might get some more response??
I got the first one at home too never got far in it, got to the colliseum and got frustrated with the camera and dropped it :frust:
I will pick it up again one day though!

Whoops..... I saw that other Kingdom Hearts thread here and thought I'd post this here as well. Oh well. (Sorry)

Yea, that camera is really bitchy, but I kind of gotten use to it, but I'm still trying to get use to it..... "don't ask" I heard that they cleaned up the camera is II though. (I think they said something about the camera being controlled with the right analog stick or something like that.)

As far as where I'm at on the 1st one... I'm in Atlantica. Thought the camera's sucked..... swimming underwater is just downright horrible. Circle button to ascend and square button to descend.... Whatever happened to just being able to swim up and down with the left analog stick?

the game got blasted by IGN (7.6). :disgust:

im surprise considering it has a much better score on Gamespot (8.7), they are much harsher review site.

doesnt matter im getting it regardless of the score, i really enjoyed the first game. :lick:

An average score, huh? Well, they must have their reasons.

Anyways, I just got it today, but I'm in no big rush to play it quite yet since I already played the Japanese version halfway. From the JP version, I'd give the game around an 8.5, but the score might change once I play the English version and understand the story a bit more.

So judging from the first impressions this one got a substantially lower score than KH1? Meryl if you give this one a 8,5 what would you give the first one? Is it more of the same but tastefully done or did they try new things but failed(a little).

I'd say KH1 was better in terms of "creativity" because, well, it was the first game and there were many larger areas that SquareEnix were able to add. Despite the horrible camera angles, I'd still give KH1 an 9.0 because it's still great.

In the second game, yes, they improved the camera, but there doesn't seem to be anything else to it. Like I said, I loved the many areas they included (the "Tarzan" world ground exploration/vine-swinging, "Alice's" forest and house, etc.) in the first game, but in the second, there's not much of this. For example, in the "Mulan" area, you literally follow a path to get from Point A to Point B. The same goes for "Pirates of the Caribbean"...the only levels that were a bit more non-linear was "The Underworld/Hades": there were different entrances, paths, but the scenery was rather dull (not that I blame it...it is the Underworld  ) and "Steamboat Willie's": wider land, different paths, along with 4 mini-areas through the paintings/theater stages. And even some of the levels that possess these qualities (such as the "Beast's Castle"), it just doesn't seem all *that* interesting to me.

But, like I said, my views might change once I get to explore others worlds, such as "Tron" or the "Lion King", and find out whether the story remains powerful and concludes well. I don't doubt that the story would still be emotionally heartfelt (oh man, there was this was one scene a little further from the beginning that I just started tearing up...:weep: ).

Also, on the plus side, the new abilities and transformations are awesome and the new reaction commands add a very, very nice touch to the gameplay. It's refreshing and draws away from the usual "slash, slash, finish" combo...it's especially very cool during one of the major fights at "Hercules'" Colliseum. ;)

Thanx Meryl for that rather usefull mini-review.

It's got a Tron-world....aaaaah yeah! I absolutely love that movie, it's one of the most underrated disney-flix ever IMO. I always wandered why there weren't any cool Tron-games around, seeing the movie actually is one big game! I hope they do something wicked cool for KH2 with the bike race scene of that movie.
It's kinda dissapointing to hear about the liniear levels, it's a rpg not a platform game.
The underworld level....not the same old flames and devils please??? I always pictured underworld to be more about Abba and the Bee-gees.
Please keep us posted when you get to explore more of the game.

two months till it gets here. I gave up on the last one at some point I can't remember anyway. After Neverland I think.

I haven't even got We Love Katamari yet, so i'm unlikely to get Kingdom Hearts 2 for an age. It'll probably be platinum by then.

Strange I always thought you were a KH-fanatic?? Oh wait that was Half-Life, never can keep the two apart.

I'm looking forward to this level only because I've never seen the movie *gets punched* so I'm hoping the stuff going on would be surprising and new. :) Though I'm sure the level would be much more enjoyable if one has seen the film in order to recognize the references and/or inside jokes from the film.

 Abba and BeeGees?! Well, that's an interesting take on the Underworld! Nah, don't worry, it's not all flames and devils...it's very similar to the Underworld in the film, "Hercules"...shades of blue are prominent in the level, evoking either a depressing or frightening feel from the player (depending on the person) and it has a rather cave or cavern-ish look to it.

I plan on buying this game once my money tree grows and showers my backyard with 20-dollar bills. Or so I dream. :shame:

I'll probably wait till this game gets on greatest hits to pick it up, not that I have worries that it won't be any good. This game is assured to sell tons of copies and then sell at a cheaper price and I really want to play it, but money is tight for me nowadays so I'd rather get it cheaper down the line. Plus I still got a Christmas/Birthday hoard and games I've bought in 2005 to play so I'll be able to keep myself busy without it. Plus I never beat the original KH, this will give me time to do just that.
