Trying to play FFVII on my PS2, bought PSone memory card. and formatted it. So now I can save my game, but can't load it. I get message from FFVII load menu "not formatted, Want to format?" Yes, no"
Well, if I click yes- it's erase all my saves, if NO-asking me to select another slot with memory card. Any ideas? Realy want to finish this game...played for 5 hours and now all saves gone...

Be sure that you are saving a PlayStation 2 game to a Memory Card (8MB) (for PlayStation 2). PlayStation 2 games cannot be saved to a PlayStation Memory Card and vice versa.

Why did you buy a PSOne memory card for your Playstation 2?

I think your main problem is that reason. You need to buy a new Playstation 2 memory card.

If it is possible that one can save a PSOne game, on their Playstation 2, with a PSOne memory card, then I think that your PSOne memory card is defected. But, I strongly recommend that you should buy a Playstation 2 memory card, since you have a Playstation 2 console.

But, try to delete the game saves on that memory card, if the formatting didn't work. If, it still doesn't work, then buy a new memory card.

Very very old thread, but the answer was wrong, so I thought it would help fix it.

Yes, you need a PsOne memory card on the PlayStation 2 to save PsOne games. You cannot save PsOne games on PlayStation 2 memory cards. This said, VZZ's problem was probably caused by a faulty PsOne memory card. Make sure you did not try to format is as a PS2 memory card (I am not even sure this is possible).
