Hey guys :)

I need yar help for a little bit, so if you would all kindly redirect your attention here and away from the shiny thing over there, I would much appreciate it. :)

But yes. I have to do this... hmm, how to say? Well, a survey of sorts for my music class. Now, I could go out and do some actual research around my town, but come on guys... it's hot outside; my hair turns yellow. And I guess I could do it myself, but it would be too centered on everything Euro and nothing American (nothing wrong with that... but the teach may label me awkward). Sooo, I decided you would help. I mean, pretty please? :shappy:

What I need is for you guys to pick your top 5 in these categories. Keep in mind most are rock-related, in one way or another. Also, I suck real badly at breaking music down into categories, so these are kinda general. If you have any ideas on something else, post away.

Here's what I have so far:

1.) Classic Rock
2.) Hard Rock
3.) Punk Rock
4.) Alternative Rock
5.) Heavy Metal
6.) 70's Bands (best bands of the 70's; any genre)
7.) 80's Bands (same)
8.) 90's Bands (same)
9.) Japanese Rock
10.) Japanese Pop

And that's all I can think of. Pretty narrow list, I know. :P So yeah, top 5 in each please. :)

Thanks!

TBH, i've no idea of where the first 5 begin and end... Genres are kind of silly when they're this specific IMO. Not quite as bad as Dance music with it's ridculous examples like "Euphoric Acid Hard House", but i've still got next to no idea of what differentiates Hard Rock from Heavy Metal, Punk from Alternative or Classic from any of them....

So umm... help! ^^

Humm did i get this right?! you want us to name artists for each category you picked or is it what the guys have been doing?!
I mean you said pick your top 5 in each, so that means they've been doing it wrong, right?!

Well if i'm right, i'm gonna think and post later, and if i'm wrong i'll post later anyways :).

I think she meant choosing 5 for each category too... but everybody's doing the survey in a different way, so before replying I'd like Mena to tell us if me and Kaena got it right or it must be done as the others are suggesting with their posts...

Ah, yes... :heh: Kaena and Fortune are right - I meant for people to choose their top five in each of the categories listed, like Sasuke did in his second post.

Sorry if I wasn't clear on that, guys. :shame:

EDIT: Also, I have added two new things just in case:

1.) Top 5 songs lyric-wise (ya know... best lyrics)
2.) Top 5 songs music-wise (regardless of whether the lyrics are that great... just music here)

and that's it. Thanks everyone! :)

I wish I could help then, but I have no idea the names of the bands, just the areas of where the music fits. Most of the music I listen to is on the radio during certain periods of time. Sorry I couldn't help then.
