SH3 Story Line ?

I was just wondering if there were any hardcore silent hill fans that could give me a really breief explination of the story. Im playing Silent Hill 3 now and ive been told you really need to have played the first one to understand it. I dont need anything detailed, just a brief run down of the main storyline points. THANKS ;)

Yeah, it would help a lot if you've played through the first one.

BIG SPOILERS FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO MAY HAVE ACCIDENTALLY WANDERED IN HERE.


I'll do these in a basic chronological order.

-Harry Mason and wife find a baby on the side of the road in/around Silent Hill, adopt her, and name her Cheryl.

-Several years later, Harry's wife dies from an illness.

-Several more years later, Cheryl convinces Harry to take her to Silent Hill for a vacation. During the ride there, a girl suddenly appears (Alessa) and causes Harry to crash the car.

-He wakes up to find Cheryl missing. He travels all around Silent Hill uncovering a plot by Dahlia Gillespie to birth a god.

-Basically, Dahlia used her own daughter (Alessa) to birth the god and during her whole painful, mess of a childhood, Alessa "separated" herself in half and created Cheryl preventing the god from being born at that time. Cheryl was "brought" back to Alessa. (A lot more to this story)

-Anyways, Harry kills the god produced by Dahlia's second attempt, and before dying Alessa/Cheryl hands Harry an infant (another form) later to be named Heather.

-So SH3 takes place 17 years after the original, and Claudia (Alessa's childhood friend and fellow cult member) wants to again try giving birth to a god through Heather/Alessa/Cheryl.


I think that's about it. I'm writing this at 5:30 a.m. so forgive for any mistakes I may have made. For a much better, in-depth analysis, try reading the Plot Guide

Well...Preventer Wind (Mostly him) and I beat it last night. Id say it was a pretty damn good game. Although , with the exception of GOD all the boss fights were pretty easy to beat. After reading the vast majority of the storyline on Gamefaqs, I must say. WOW. I didnt know it went that deep. Its pretty far fetched but at the same time it still all fits together well. Overall it was a great game. Creepy, disturbing, wierd, far fetched, but GREAT none the less. Thanks again though, I wouldnt have understood much you hadnt replied

Yeah I beat the game recently too. Its definately a great game, probably my second fav, right after the first game. Now I'm off unlocking all the extras.

I read about the three endings. Preventer and i got the normal ending

WARNING : The following spoiler revels a small amount of info about the games ending, not much though

I know in one of the others, Heather/Cheryl kills the detective guy. Im just wondering what happens in the third ending. The guide reffered to it as the REVENGE ending. Do you know what that ones like ?. Im dieing to know and im definately not re-beating the game to find out.

Also. When you fiirst get tot he Church Level. I read in the guide when you enter the Confessional you get to make some choices that determine what ending you get. When Preventer went in there was no such choice to be made, no cutscene, no nothing. Just a small meaningless room. Do you have to beat it on hard to get this ? Because we did it on Normal Difficulty with Normal Riddle Difficulty as well.

P.S. Did you go into the room with the Mirror wall ? Oh man..that was maybe the creepiest part of the game in my opinion
