....The end of evangelion. I know many people have heard of that movie if not all anime otakus.
I bought it today, after hearing so many overrating ciritcs, i just decided to buy it.

But this is what hurt me (as i watched the movie).

I could had downloaded, or i could had rented it (my blockbuster is only 30 seconds from my house) but see, i bought it...a good 29. 99 plus tax.
Ok so it was not that bad (the movie) but it wasnt what i expected.
I watched all 26 eps of evangelion, i havent watched Death and Rebirth wich is why im downloading it.
After the movie was done, i was a bit dissapointed. I tried mybest to cheer myself up but somethings couldnt cover the bad.
The movie was offensive, but it was also very cheering convincing you not to worry about anything and live happy...and this is done in a very physchological way, which is one of the god things. Another good thing is that it fits on my collection very well, and thats most of what counts. I didnt like the movie that much, but didnt hate it...it was short which means one thing..it wasnt frustrating.
Evangelion is still not the best series i've watched (anime) but its not a bad one. I'll just watch out next time i buy a movie... At least i experienced what all the fuss was about.

Same reaction from a lot of other Eva fans. You're not alone ;) I liked End of Eva though. I think it fits well the atmosphere of the series and I don't think the movie is "offensive". Offensive towards who or what?

There was this part where the whole screen was flashing images and stuff...and all you hear is voices of females telling how much they hate you and stuff...and how much they dont like you and "i want to break up with you" "i didnt need you" kinda language. Thats what i mean. It can get to people head.

I think the movie was good, even if yes, many people don't like it at all. They were expecting more explanations maybe, I don't know. But as Hylas said, I think the movie fits the rest of the series.

I had no problem with the movie, i think it did fit the series perfectly...plus its a way better ending than the tv series.

Many japanese Eva fans were really disappointed after the movies were released (both Death and Rebirth and End of Evangelion). I dunno what they were expecting, but probably what Rei said is true: they were looking for explanations not contained in the original series and they found out the movies didn't give them what they were expecting. But I think the most appealing and interesting aspect of Evangelion is that you don't have an explanation for anything, you have to guess and think about it after watching the episodes many times. You don't have the chance to understand the meaning of Eva if you just care about details like "Who are the Angels and what do they want?" and such things. Eva is very metaphysical, that's the difference betewwen it and other mecha anime you can find around, but probably not anybody is aware of this fact.

I guess Eva was cool because of its originality plus everything that was being talked about during its years.
I like evangelion, then didnt like it, and then kinda like it again...i think thats whats happening to other animes i liked in the past but dont like now...they are haunting me!:ghost:
