Pyramid Head (SH2)

If anyone could help me out here, i'd be gratefull.
Remember the scene where James fights the two Pyramid Heads? Well, I did that at midnight, so please 4give me, but, why the hell did they spike themselves?
I'm guessing that seeing as they were like the payback for James's sins, once he stood up 2 them and beat them, they had served their purpose. After all, they took a step back when he said something like
"but no more, now it's time to end this."

Has anyone got any other ideas, or anything they can add?

It was because James had overcome his fear for pretty much anything, and all that really mattered at that point was that Maria had been killed, and all of James' personal demons were forgotten, they killed themselves, in a sense. The Pyramid Heads represent one of James' greater personal demons, just as all of the enemies of SH2 do, and they had been overcome, and had no more reason for existing.

SH2 was a kickass game, was it not? ;)

Now was the Pyramid heads suppose to represent James as the sacrificers? Since James killed his wife and all. and so when he was able to recognize that he was able to thwart the deamons...
