I've seen 2-D fighters and they look awesome. I like the insanely fast action they have and I want to get one. Should I get Guilty Gear X-2 or Marvel vs. Capcom 2. I've heard and read that they're both great but i dont know which to get. If anybody knows of any better 2-D fighters, please share the info.
Thx.

After playing both.I would go with Guilty Gear X2.The game has everything that you would want.It blends all the best 2-D fighters in history together to make one hell of a game.Marvel vs Capcom doesn't have enough depth to stand up to GGX2.

The reason i think Marvel vs. Capcom 2 might be a good choice is cause of the crazy 3 on 3 tag team matches they have. I think that the tag battles would require more depth skill and strategy than 1 on 1 battles. Another reason im leanin towards Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is cause i've heard of most of the characters in the game and i dont know any of the characters in other 2-D fighters. I also heard that the stories for the characters in GGX-2 are really confusing. But im not really sure about these games cause i havent played either of them yet.

Can you tell us about the characters in GGX2 ... How many are there for one thing as opposed to Marvel vs. capcom and have you played capcom vs. Snk 2? Sorry abut all the questions...I am interested in buying a quality 2-D fighter, too, but I don't think I'd likely invest money on more than one.

Sure no problem red.First off character wise though all about even.I think theres a good 20 in GG and about 30 in Marvel vs. C and Capcom vs. SNK, i'm not entirely sure because i rented them all.Now mode wise its kinda hard to get into.GG I like better because anyone can get into. But its just not a simple fighter. Its got all the goodness and modes of some of the best fighters out there.Pretty much everything wrapped into one small package.Length wise with GG its got an interesting story for each character while the other 2 games stay away from that aspect.Graphically GG is pretty as they get and very fast pace. Now with M v C and C v SNK it kind simple.M v S is like Alpha for PS.Great fighting system and all but it lacks the depth of the game.It looks good graphically but not on par with GG.Now i'm kinda jumping over things quickly so i'll just finish up with what I thought of C v SNK.Ok i played this on the xbox and let me say it isn't anything great even though it is live. Its too simplistic. You got arcade, vs mode and live. Not very much to select from. You can choose from different fighting styles and such, even an arcade type scheme which is quite interesting.Balanced fighting is non existent in my eyes considering an oppenent can repeat the same move and kill someone.I would pass on it unless your intent on playing as the classic characters. Now in summary I go with GG.But I would still recommend M v C.And if your desperate for ole favorites go with C v SNK 2.Now i know this a mess, I apologize because i'm kinda tired :). Happy Gaming.

This may not help exactly but I own GuiltyGearX for the Ps2 and Capcom Vs SNK2 for the Xbox.

If you are looking for something new, I'd say for GuiltyGearX2 (Which is better then what I have --> GGX). But seriously Capcom Vs SNK2 is one awesome game too. I havn't gotten the Xbox Live yet though :( but still I am having so much fun with that game. Its pure classic fighting game. GGX2 have much better character animation (smoother and really beautiful) but doesn't have that many characters, where as Capcom Vs SNK2, as people have mentioned have tons and I mean TONS of em.

Go Ken Go! :D

Dan Man, that title is only good online.Theres hardly any to no replay to the game. The only thing going for it besides the online factors would be the large amount of characters and the traditional arcade like controls.Other than that it's a stinker.

ive got Marvel vs Capcom 2, Its good but it gets very boring very quickly. I found dead or alive 3 much better and more enjoyable. The fact that its 2d did mean i wasn't impressed with the graphics that much. But then saying that it does have a huge amount of characters and is extremely fast. I found it didn't have enough moves that can be combined. It is things like combos and good looking, impressive moves that make you want to master the game.

I would say if u like a game with 2-D fighting games i recomend playing capcom vs snk for the dreamcast this game shows u that u don't need to movie around a 3-D screen to be a really good fighting game. And back then dreamcast was the way ahead of its time.

I have to agree with gohan the capcom vs snk series is by far one of the best. It has the best fighters from both companies. I haven't played the second one yet, but I've put countless hours into the first with my brother and my friends and I'd still go back for more if they still wanted to play. There's hardly no story though, so if that's what your looking for sadly your going to have to search elsewere. Excellet party game though!!
