They say that home is where the heart is,
but for some
it’s the place of much more wicked things
mental and physical torment, and for what?
Some man’s ego, taking a trip-
too small to stand up and too big to stand down
an iron rule is waged.
It’s for the kids, is the rationalization of her battle weary mind
it’s for them I endure this; no other reason;
a face blushed and bruised, scarred with the marks of war
situations a woman should never face in all her time.
But can you even call him a man?
I mean, do REAL men beat women?
The degradation of your own children’s mother’s soul?
Sucking her essence from her, hit after hit
not only a dent on her frame, but her very spirit....
We run ‘round like we the king of our forest, but what happened to the queen?
The sacrifice of our hunt, for our want, for our greed
a man? Ha! Not in my dictionary-
the man is the protector of his family, not the destroyer-
like a monsoon over the seas instead of a soothing wind
cooling wind, that touches it’s people for the better;
Laying waste to the landscape of a household
with strikes that are earth shattering, tears like a downpour, a flood-
Noah couldn’t even overcome this one.
The echoes over the years, an escalating rhythm...
The Shadow of Death cast on what should be the Stable of Life...
But don’t worry, one day she’ll realize your trifle aint worth her time
‘cuz brother if WE don’t change, how can we expect others?
Only a fool would be so naive-
I, for one, have engineered myself... Respect.
Don’t cry when you wake up one mornin’ and your babygirl is gone,
don’t cry when you wake up and the sunshine that you had eclipsed so long
that you had sheltered for a time too long for the clock to count-
is gone.
Then, and only then, will you realize what you have done, what you have lost...
What may, I pray, never be yours again.
What is a Tsar minus his kingdom? Just like the rest-
and this is what a “man” such as yourself deserves.
Homeless.

Weird....Very weird. Maybe I am not a die-hard on literacy but this is too hard to understand.

It's not that it's weird, the words don't ryhme with each other in the poem... It's good, but it needs to ryhme.

You'll don't understand the POWER in this poem. Read it again, it is worth it. I'm serious. This poem would probably, more likely than not, be ruined by rhyme. It can stand on it's own. The language traps me in a feast and I just want to scream in joy. The meaning... the flow.... the moral.... excellent job, a piece of art.

THANK YOU Chi3kenWire, atleast someone realizes that the best of poetry doesnt have to rhyme... yeesh. I do both kinds of poetry, rhyming and free verse, and I think rhyming is often to encasing, no matter how much you switch up a rhyme scheme theres only so much you can do. Rhyming also has a tendancy to make the reader read thru without thinking, as a "movie on a screen" type flow as my English teacher would say. Both can be potent, but I think this story is best suited for a non-rhyming style...

Wow, just look at the use of words. I can see how excited you are...I felt lucky that I am not a Die-Hard literater.

I wasnt upset, I just didnt see the logic of your comment... and words can be a very powerful thing, they push for change, they do all types of things... without words how do we communicate effectively? Theres only so much body language can show... but oh well, everyone has their own ideas, funny how you're using words to dis on em ;)
