Obviously, a lot of the older gamers will say Pong, but it’s fun to put things into perspective and see which games were “firsts” for gamers across the board.

I think my first arcade machine was Scramble, although it may have been Defender - can't really remember too well!

First computer game was probably Gorf on my Commodore VIC-20. Either that or Omega Race cos they were the only 2 games I had when I got it.

First console game was Pitfall on the Atari console.

Yup, I'm an old gamer... lol.

Well, seriously my very first game was "PONG".. .. back in 1984. I had a video game system called "Conic TVG 406-6". Still have it........ my dad got it for himself that time though.

Heres the pic of my very first SYSTEM.......on which I played PONG! :)

My SYSTEM (Blurry image though) (http://ricardohermes.no.sapo.pt/Consolas/Conic%20TVG-406-6.jpg)

Super Mario Bros. for the NES. Same here, as well. I'm surprised not alot of others (well as many as I thought) had the same experience.

Wow, looking at some of your posts has really brought back some memories. Jungle Hunt, Duck Hunt (I remember wanting that gun so bad) Asteroids. I just went from game to game in the arcade and couldn't wait to drop in that quarter. My personal fav was still Defender. I must have spent 500.00 trying to be king of the arcade.

Ignore the emulator matter, just to show you what they point out. I believe they are right.

My favorite, haven't played that many, but I love Tekken3 when people are around but when it's just me I'd have to say final fantasy.

My first system was regular nitendo. Duck hunt was the bomb back then.

What was the first system? Well, it's a tough one but these are the first two ever games:1958
In an effort to keep visitors to the Brookhaven National Laboratories in New York from being bored, physicist Willy Higinbotham invents an interactive table-tennis-like game that is displayed on an oscilloscope. He improves on his invention a year later by displaying it on a 15-inch monitor. Believing that he hasn't invented anything, Higinbotham doesn't patent the device.

1961
Spacewar.
MIT student Steve Russell creates Spacewar, the first interactive computer game, on a Digital PDP-1 (Programmed Data Processor-1) minicomputer. Limited by the computer technology of the time, Spacewar used new teletype terminals with CRT screens to display the graphics.

The first home video game system was released in 1972, and was called the Oddessy and was manufactured by Magnavox.

I played games on a green screen thing made by amstrad (was a bit like a Spectrum... loaded from tapes) but I can't remember a single thing about it... so I guess my first game was "Alex Kidd in Miracle World" on the Master System. Nostalgia got the better of me and i went and played it one day a while ago... I'm as bad now as I ever was at it

Hey Spankathon, now that's some serious history. Nice work. I would have sworn it was pong. What game would you consider a classic and why? Anyone else wants to speak out, go for it.

Hey Mercury, dig your screen. Amelie, right. Classics include Asteroid, Defender (The new one is great too) and Space Invaders. All space, all the time.
