The screen it too dark, maybe its the tv in my room. Because when I try it in the livingroom (sony tv) its all fine. I have this problem with games en dvds.

And another problem that only occurs on my room is that some dvds have no colour. But when played in the living room its all good. Is it because its an import DVD? (I live in Europe and I think the dvd came from the states)

Thanks,

Goat

Hi,

you should provide me these information:

1. Which kind of Tv you have in your room?
2. Is the Ps2 a PAL or NTSC unit?
3. Which cable are you using?

Thanks!

1. A very old beatdown television of the brand Roberts (wut the hell?)

2. An AV cable without the scart.

3. Pal

Thanks again =)

Ok, I asked these questions because the greyscale problem happens when you hook a NTSC Ps2 to a PAL television (which supports NTSC signal) without the proper cable.

Anyhow, if you imported a NTSC DVD from the United States, your PAL Ps2 shouldn't be able to play it. It's not difficult to guess the problem of the "dark screen" is caused by your old TV.

Anyhow, is the DVD you are playing NTSC? It should be written somewhere on the box.

What Region are the DVD's that play in black & white? Region 0 is a worldwide region that will work in any DVD player, so I reckon those DVDs could be NTSC but Region 0.

This means they'll play, but unless you use the right cable (as Harry said) they'll appear in B&W.

As a point of interest, a lot of porn DVDs are Region 0.... ummm, apparently... so I've been told.... anyway...

hahaha well I didnt want to bring it up, but it is Vivid! hahahaha ok guess they are region 0 then, so another cable should do the trick?

Vivid... nice - Jenna Jameson... ummm, anyway...

I had an old TV that could handle an NTSC signal - but only in black and white, so maybe that's your problem. Hence why your SONY works, but your old P.O.S doesn't...
