I love MGS2.

I love GTA 3.

Hated GT3 until I got some good cars...now I love it. (Can you feel the love in the air?)

I haven't played TMB.

Didn't care much for FFX. (Got my butt wooped)

They're all good games. I pick GTA3 as the best because of the amount of freedom you have in the game. I feel it has the greatest replay value as well.

Good point. I'm trying to get a game in every genre to make an awesome PS2 library.

woah...lots to choose from huh?

well i'd go with GTA3..lots of freedom to do whatever you want, good story too. The game will keep you busy for awhile.

The others you listed are all great games too. Escpecially FFX & MGS2.

I haven't played FFX yet, but this is what I think out of the others.

MGS2
GTA3
TMB
GT3

I like MGS2 slightly more than GTA3 because it's more epic. On the other hand, GTA3 has replay value through the roof.

Dont get MG2. Sure its a great game, but it doesnt offer enough play-time. Rent it, or wait for MG2 Substance.

Thats true. It's not worth full price if you ask me. Blockbuster has a week long rental for it. Plenty of time to finish it.

FFX(If you're into RPGs)
If not, GTA 3

They are all good games and are definitely a great variety.

If you like RPGs, go with FFX. However, seeing as how that game was somewhat a disappointment to me, I say you go with
MGS2 or GTA3.

Grand Theft Auto 3 is the definite king of the hill, here.

Final Fantasy X is a close second.. it wasn't the best in the series, in my most humble opinion.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is third by a hair's width. It's a great game with lots of versatility but it's unfortunately depressingly short and much of the game is taken up by cutscenes.... also the plot is too twisty for my taste. Raiden: "I exist.. no wait.. I don't.. no.. wait..? >_<!"

Gran Turismo 3 is outstanding, a great game, and just barely out of the top three. The graphics are unbelievable even now. It's still wowing people, even Xboxers spoiled by that console's power. The soundtrack for that game is also, in my opinion, a killer one. Best racing game out there.

..Unfortunately I haven't played Twisted Metal Black. Can't comment on that..

My recommendation list (!)--

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
MGS2 (rent it for a week, definitely)
Final Fantasy X
Grand Theft Auto 3
Armored Core 2 and Another Age
Gran Turismo 3
Devil May Cry (rent it for a week, definitely)
Virtua Fighter 4
Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
Onimusha: Warlords

MGS2 is my favorite, on my opinion the game that everybody should have in his/her library.

Hey Harry, shouldn't that be heading to Greatest Hits soon?
