Meryl Silverburg
Hey all...it's been a while since I posted any of my drawings, but here's a new picture that I recently drew. It's Meryl Silverburg from "Metal Gear Solid". I hope she doesn't look too evil...her expression on the real drawing is a little better than here, but oh well. Please give any suggestions, I know it's not perfect. Here it is:

Ohh! I like this image! I like the sketchy look of it! And the calm pensive pose! It's a lot of time that you don't post meryl, but it's great so see another pic from you!
I'd like to give you suggestions regarding this pic, but I like it as it is, so I don't know what to say |

Its nice to see that you've posted another one of your pics again and that pic is really good Meryl, I like it
I love the pose and the expression on her face and also I don't think she looks evil either. Keep it up

Thanks you guys. I'm glad the pose looks okay, but it's kinda driving me crazy 'cause there seems to be something wrong. Like, it's unproportional, but when I measured it, it was right.... And do you guys think I should've added some kind of background? Or her name? *goes insane*

I think the pic is ok as it is. If you decide to ink it or to clear it a bit, you can add a background, otherwise I'd suggest to not add it, or the image will look too confused, because it's only a sketch.

The drawing is good. Shikawa too, doesn't add much of a background to his images. The character is in underlined by strong traces of ink or it's edited to add coors too in some cases. The background is not needed. It would be nice, if you want to add some variety to it, to ink the image with a coloured pen or something like that.
This is just my idea, in case you want to change it a bit. |

Ooh..I'm not too good with inking and pens, so thanks for your suggestion and help, Carlito, but I think I'll just leave it as it is. I'm glad I don't need a background though, 'cause I'm not good with those either. Thanks again.

Looks good!! The proportionas are all right, or so I think anyway! Only one thing bugs me.
Something about where the leg(s) join up to the torso, its really awkward. It seems that the left leg (our left) is out too far from her body, maybe try bringing it in closer, like, tucking it in more... I tried to do a redline for you but I have a mouse and it's too shaky. The best way to fix this is to find a picture of somone in that pose (or close to it) and look at how the pants fall, and how the leg looks. This is a really nice picture!! Hope I helped somewhat! |

That sketch looks very good, Meryl. The only thing I can suggest is to fix her left leg a bit so it doesn't look too far out ( like Gad suggested ). Other than that, it looks very good.

Whoah! Damn.. Meryl, that's a really great sketch.. looks like it came right out of one of the manuals. Good job. ^_^ Wish I could draw human forms like that.

Thanks you guys, I really appreciate your feedbacks and suggestions. Whatever helps me improve.
RichHo: I'm not sure what A-Level Art is (though it sounds very advanced) but I'm looking forward to your drawings. BlackThornn: Well, this sketch would look like it came out of a manual, since I used the MGS artbook to help me out with her face and the pose was slightly taken from a similar sketch Shinakawa drew. Thanks for the compliment though. |

A-Level stands for Advanced Level, and its basically further education once your over 16 years old. Its a complex course, and very difficult, but ill gladly send in some of my work when I start the course.

(^It's essentially what UK kids go onto in College, or "Sixth Form" after secondary school)
as for the sketch: what a sketch ^_^. her face is particuarly well done, and the large majority of the proportions seem good. Excellent work, and I demand more of the same. or better! ^_^
