Stroking Spank's Ego
Hey friends!
I don't know how many of you read the 'Who Plays Sports' thread from a while ago, but in it I explained about my playing Basketball and how a severe ankle injury kinda put a downer on where I was hoping to get. Anyway, tonight my team had a match in the North Wales Basketball Association Handicap cup. We were playing Mold Magic who had a 27 point head start. Before the match a couple of representatives from the League gathered both teams together to make an announcement. They had a trophy to give to the MVP (Most Valuable Player) for 2002... Guess what? It was me! Yup, I was presented with the MVP for 2002 tonight and I'm very proud of that. Especially considering many years ago (after my injury) I was told by doctors I would not be able to play basketball at the same level that I once did. I'm not really sure what I'm trying to say here, other than the fact I wanted my PS2Fantasy friends to know, but if someone ever tells you can't do something - ignore them. I've worked at my game since my injury, and today I was rewarded. It can happen, but more importantly it does happen! So if there is anything any of you guys wanna do - you can do it - don't let people tell you otherwise! And just in case anyone is interested, despite me getting 31 points tonight, we still got beat - a 27 point deficit was just too much to make up! - S

Congrats Spank! I'm very happy to hear that you got a trophy for being the MVP.
And you are right. Many people lose hope and quickly discard their dreams whenever they encounter an obstacle, whether it's people or something else. However, like you said, I'm sure if one works and strives for their goals without caring what others think, they'll prevail in the end. Heh, I should take your and my own advice because I always throw away my goals and dreams whenever I encounter something terrible. But, I'm trying now not to do that...so thanks for your encouraging words, Spank. Congrats again!

I think it's great you won MVP of 2002 despite your injuries from many years before. The only person to ever tell me I couldn't do anything is my stepfather, but I never listened to him.

congrats Spank ... you've always been a number one around here, so this probably doesn't come as too much of a surprise ... but seriously, thats some good advice as well, and I'm really pleased you managed to get close enough to your dreams once more

Congrats spank, you've done well with your injuries and all, but the North Wales Basketball Association Handicap cup. Sorry I never heard about that, I used to play basketball, well I was on a team, for Linconshire, but only for about a year.

w00t = wohoo. Same as WoO! for me.
Spank. Firstly, that title is so disturbing. *laughs* Great story though! Downright inspirational, mate. ..Though it sucks you still got beaten. Argh. I'm not gonna say anything though, most points I've ever gotten in a basketball game was 10.

To all of you, thanks for your kind words! You know what my mates said when I told them? "Cool.... so when we going the pub?"... Lol - one track minds, the lot of them! Dan: Yeah, Koppite here mate! Second half was much better than the first! Hopefully this cup win will take some of the pressure off Liverpool now! - S
