Favorite Actor/Actress and Why
Who's your favorite actor or actress and why? What movies have they been in so the rest of us can check em out. Talk about their characters and roles a little if you want. Which are they the best at? Tell as much as you want here. After a few I'll tell you about my favorite. I think some of you may already know.

I'm a big fan of the "old" guys:
- Al pacino - Robert deNiro I like them in what they do best playing the gangsters in movies like: - Scarface - Goodfellas - Carlitos way - Casino -Donnie Brasco etc. etc. A few of my other favo actors are Ray Liotta, Michael Madsen(reservoir dogs woohaa!) and Johnny Depp( sleepy hollow, From Hell). For actresses I don't have that many, mostly Cameron Diaz( for the excellent movie "Very bad things").

I think Nicolas Cage can act real good. He was the king of "Gone in 60 seconds". And Anthony Hopkins is the most charismatic actor ever.
And the women... Cameron Diaz is talented, beautiful... a good actress. |

DAVID BOWIE! - All time favourite, he does /every/ art form imaginable! So talented.... mrrr... Watch 'the Labyrinth'! He has a bunch of other movies too, which I sadly havent seen yet. But I will... oh I will.
Ben Stiller - Gorgeous AND talented?! Yes! Check out 'Zoolander', 'Mystery Men', 'Zero Effect', and 'Meet the Parents'! Chris Kattan - He /kills/ me! Catch him on SNL or rent 'A Night at the Roxbury' or 'Corky Romano'! He's so funny, just the way he moves! And he's cute too! ^^ Rob Schneider - Most people think he's ugly, but someone has to love him! Check out 'The Hot Chick', and 'Deuce Bigalo: Male Gigalo' Steve Martin - Old; but still good looking! My favourite role was on the 1986 version of 'Little Shop of Horrors', which is a definatle must-see for everyone!! Watch it!! NOW! Other good ones include 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels', 'The Three Amigos', 'The Jerk' and his newest 'Bringing Down the House'! Molly Shannon - Mostly seen on SNL, I love everything she does! A must-see is 'Superstar, definate classic. |

Darren Morfitt-He has acted in only one film but has done some tv shows. but he is a great actor and has the skills to make it big and i hope he does. he is in a film called dog soldiers....good horror movie check it out. and its where i got the quote from.....darren morfitt plays a character called spoon in the movie
Jason Statham-Has had some pretty good roles but is best at his english accent and the way he acts is just amazeing. he has been my fave actor for awhile and i have almost seen all of his films. check out......snatch,lock,stock and two smoking barrels,Mean Machine Jason Flemyng-another great actor that i like and has been in quite abit of films as well even some films with jason statham. check out......below,from hell, bruiser,LXG Bill paxton-i really like this actor since his film alien his whineing persona in that movie was hilarious he can play a weasel and a calm and collected man bill is just too great. check out aliens, tombstone,Frailty, predator 2 Scott Caan-Scott caan son to actor james caan. following in his footsteps as an actor....he has had some minor roles but did them well. an actor that i think will be big and he is also directing a movie that will come out sometime this year. check out Ocean's Eleven, gone in 60 seconds, american outlaws, bongwater. well there is more but i think thats enough.

old favorites Tom Hanks and Jim Carrey get my vote. I believe they are "true" actors, especially Hanks. Too many actors are simply typecast into playing roles: Tom Hanks plays many different roles, convincingly and entertainingly. My Favorite Tom Hanks film would be Forest Gump. It so loveably daft, poigonant and sad. Carrey on the other hand, is perhaps typecast as an idiot. But the Truman Show was such a departure from that route - and so brilliantly executed and filled with emotion and intriugue - that You can really see the diversity that Carrey never really lets on.
As for Actresses... I honestly can't think of a good one. Sigourney Weaver in the Aliens films was Fab, but I haven't seen much of her other work.

Actors
Mel Gibson- We were soldiers ( I cried) , The Partriot (loved it) Tom Hanks- Cast Away ( not much talking in the movie while on the island but still loved it. I always wondered what was in the butterfly painted package.) Al Pacino- Scarface (Two Words-Great Movie) Robert Dinero- Too many to count. He was in so many awesome movies. Jet Li- Once upon a time in China, Romeo Must Die, Contract Killer. He's a great martial artist and hes cute. What more can you ask for! Jackie Chan- Anyone that can do thier own stunts in a movie has my respect. Jia Hongshen- Quitting. That was a great movie. Its an indepent film and doesnt have any action but its a true story. Its a long movie but I recommend it. The actors in this movie are the actual people they are portraying. Actresses Angelina Joline- Bone Collector, TR. What I like about her is her strong personality. She is a great actress and mother. Her child is so adorable. Michele Rodriguez- RE, Fast and the Furious, Girl Fight , Blue Crush. Jodie Foster- Silent of the Lambs, Panic Room. You dont see her in much movies now but she is at the top of my list. Nicole Kidman- Moulan Rouge, The Others. I forgot one more actor. Benicio del Toro- Drug Wars: The Camarena Story, The Fan,Traffic. He is also a great actor and is very good looking.

1. Mel Gibson (We Were Soldiers, Patriot, Lethal Weapon, Braveheart, Payback)
Favorite Line showing his acting skills was in We Were Soldiers when speaking to Barry Pepper's Character... "I'll never forgive myself..." (Near tears) "Because my men... *pause* My men died and I didn't..." That was the only line in any movie that even put weight in my throat... 2. Bruce Willis (Die Hard series, Unbreakable, Tears of the Sun, Sixth Sense) Very good actor. He really shined in Sixth Sense, because he showed a side he never showed in other movies, which he again showed in Unbreakable... A side filled with compassion and doubt. Favorite Line was in Unbreakable when his son was holding the gun and he said, "Shawn, (name might be inaccurate) I am your father... And I am telling you to put that God **** gun down now! One!... Two!..." It's a simple line but his acting skills really shined in that moment... 3. Ray Liotta (Goodfellas, Phoenix, Heartbreakers - he actually made this movie good) Perhaps one of the most under-rated actors ever. He's a VERY good actor. I haven't seen Phoenix in a while, but if I were to quote one of his movies for his talent, it would be Phoenix or was it Inferno? I remember it was one of those "Straight to Video" movies. 4. Joaquinn Phoenix (Gladiator, Signs, U-Turn) Wow... His acting in Gladiator left me speechless. To be given the role of a cowardess emperor... He was very good in Signs too... Come to think of it, I don't remember him lacking in any movie I've seen him in. Favorite Line was in Gladiator, scene "Am I Not Merciful"... And I quote... "... And as for you... You will love me, as I loved you... You will provide me with an heir of pure blood... So that Commodus and his progeny will rule for a thousand years... Am I not merciful? ... *pause* AM I NOT MERCIFUL!!!?" 5. Robin Williams (What Dreams May Come, Jack, Hook, Insomnia, One Hour Photo) When he does serious roles... Watch out, because you might fall off your seat from being so close to the edge. His performance in What Dreams May Come would bring any person to sadness and then to happiness. His performance in Insomnia made you truly feel anger towards him. 6. Willem Defoe (Spiderman, Boondock Saints) You have to see him in Boondock Saints to see his true potential. A damned good actor. Favorite Line... Boondock Saints, "They used amonia... None of this is any good-****! You know what this means!? Even if we could get suspects, we've got nothing! Nothing! Nothing! I've never seen anything like this in my ****ing life! Who the **** are they?!"

Actors (quasi-random selection among faves)
Humphrey Bogart: old Bogie aka the smart sweetheart with a bad attitude. Marlon Brando: he's probably acting personified. I doubt you can go further than that in acting career. Al Pacino: I admit I don't like all his movies. He's the anti-hero. Well, not him, his characters... Takeshi Kitano: coolness personified! I love all his characters, the fact he almost never speaks in his movies, but this doesn't implies his performances are poor. In fact I'm a great fan of Beat Takeshi! Toshiro Mifune: for each anti-hero, we need a hero too, I guess. Jude Law: I'm a girl, and I have eyes too He's very handsome and I like his acting. Tony Leung: a very interesting asian actor. I liked all the movies he was in till now, so... Johnny Depp: Another "young" actor I like, which is rare... Actresses Machiko Kyo: probably the most luscious actress I can think of. Audrey Hepburn: style, acting and beauty all rolled into one. Gong Li: gorgeous, talented and graceful. |

DMX: Romeo Must Die, Cradle 2 the Grave, and Exit Wounds
All three of those were awesome Jet Li; he's awesome too and he was also in the first two movies I mentioned, he was also in The One. Eddie Griffin: Undercover Brother along with Chris Kattan, Double Take, and Armegeddon I never really saw that last movie cause of the soundtrack but I had seen some of it and I saw him in it. He's got a lot of funny roles and I like that Chris Tucker; he was in Rush Hour and Rush Hour 2 with Jackie chan, he was also in The FIfth element with Bruce Willis Ice Cube: Friday, Next Friday, Friday After Next, Anaconda along with Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson, Barbershop along with Eve, All About the Benjamins, and Ghosts of Mars The only two movies out of those that I haven't seen are Friday and Friday After Next, but I'm sure they're great as Next Friday was. A lot of those are comedies but Anaconda and Ghosts of Mars are horrors and he's really good in those too Will Smith: Independence Day, Men In Black, Men In Black 2, Wild Wild West, and Enemy of the State I haven't seen Enemy of the State but I would like to some day, seems pretty good. Dr Dre: Training Day and The Wash Dr Dre was in The Wash along with Xzibit, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Shaquille O'Neill. Snoop Dogg: Baby Boy, The Wash, and Bones Also in Baby Boy was Tyrese Gibson and Omar Gooding(the only other movie I can see he was in is Ghost Dad with Bill Cosby) Jennifer Lopez; Movies I've seen: Jack, Angel Eyes, The Cell, Money Train, and Anaconda Movies I would like to see: Enough and Maid In Manhattan She was in Jack along with Robin Williams as the teacher, Miss Marquez, and The Cell was a kinda disturbing movie but I thought it was good. She was in The Cell along with Vincent D'Onofrio who happened to be in the first Men In Black movie There are others, but those are some I could come up with probably little known information. Others: Seth Green, Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Laurence Fishburne(he used a katana in Matrix Reloaded and I thought that on scene was awesome), Elizabeth Hurley, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jamie Foxx, Martin Lawrence, Robin Williams, Jackie Chan, Eminem, Jim Carrey, Ludacris, Tyrese, Xzibit, Mitch Mullany, and Jada Pinkett Smith Now here comes ther part where I choose one from each, Jada Pinkett Smith and DMX. I know it's a lot, so if anyone wants I could put up a summary of it later. |

Yep, my favorite actor of all time is Al Pacino. Nobody to me is more convincing as a villain, a good guy, or whatever he plays. He is the most convincing actor when it come to all kinds of emotions, but he is the very best period when it comes to acting angry! No other actor to me is so convincing when acting angry! This guy is a genius...when watching his films its like "Oh hell yeah its time for him to get angry! Get ready!"
Heres a few must sees: Scarface (the quintessential gangster movie) Devil's Advocate Serpico (don't miss this finely directed classic) Godfather series Insomnia (his latest masterpeice oscar winning type performance that I feel was very wrongly ignored by the Academy this past year) Heat (on opposite sides of the law with Robert Deniro no less!) Scent of a Woman(classic) Simone (an interesting role for Mr. Pacino, but he pulls it off so beautifully its a must see...) OK I will be back with more actors and actresses... _RED_ stuff

Ah...personally i love Al Pacino.
I also like Jhon Travolta because somehow, he brings drama to his role, and many of the movies he has made are worth my time. Um...fave acress? i dont really know, whoever looks good doing the role actually. I also (for some reason) like a Collin Farrel, i don't know why, i dont know anything about that but, i do. Uh...there are many others, oh yeah...Tobey Mcguire, because he can act. Soooo many others really. |

Among actresses I forgot to mention Liv Ullmann, Maggie Cheung and Jean Seberg, but there would be so many, and actors too. This is not a thread about compiling lists. Not my fault if I always find difficult to pick few favourites
Red, among latest Pacino movies, "People I know" was interesting. He plays a controversial role there. But from what I know the movie hasn't been properly released in the US. Or at least, it still had to be released when I first watched it, several months ago. Don't know what happened then. |
