If there was only ever one Final Fantasy game made, which one would you choose?

Basically as the title says, if there was only ever one Final Fantasy game that was made and that you could play, which one would you choose?

This is probably a hard choice since there is quite a few good FF games out there, but I think personally I would choose ffix since it is one of the ff games that I enjoy going back to.

So which one would you choose?

Easy. Final Fantasy 8. While FF7 was a good game, (and has better characters) I can't continue to play a game where my characters look like lego's. Perhaps if I were into RPGs back when FF7 first came out I would've had a different opinion. (I wasn't much of a graphic freak back then as I am now.)

Now, FF8 was the first in the series I've ever played. Squall is one of the best characters I've seen in games. Cliched... "shrugs" I don't mind that stuff. He gets a lot of hate for being so cold and distant. Perhaps it's rightfully so that he gets all this hate, but I tend to like characters like him. It's a lot better than playing as characters that're naive and idiotic. Honestly, the rpgs that've been coming out recently has me on the skeptical side because they leading character is either naive, spoiled, or stupid. (Sora, Fayt, Luke) While I haven't played any of these newer RPGs, I'm just skeptical of the leading characters because they are kids. I think the only exception would be Lost Odyssey.

Anyway, it took quite some time for Rinoa to grow onto me. I've had a change of heart (I'm getting soft, lol) for Rinoa when
Spoiler: show
she was drifting in space
. I don't know why, I just felt sorry for her. None of the characters are really that bad IMO, their just no Vincent, Tifa, and Sephiroth, you know? Nevertheless they're tolerable.

And then a lot of people hate the junction system. I prefer this method over collecting materia or unlocking some grid. (Dragon Quest 8 and Chrono Trigger are better in terms of gaining new abilites though) Then again, I have a lot of patience and I don't mind drawing magic from enemies.

I'm rambling so I'll stop now. I can talk about FF8 for days lol.

Tactics

Great job system lets you make your army of knights and mages as you venture through all of Ivalice. Story that draws you in with betrayal, love, adventure, justice, mystery, and about anything else you can think of. Characters are filled with life as well as flaws which makes the player feel like he/she should be in the game with them flinging arrows and tossing spells. Music sets the enviornment and generates an aura to make the game feel life-like.

All around, outstanding.

I love tactics and its my favorite, but I don't think I would not be able to love it if it weren't for the great titles before it. I know FF7 gets most the press but it really was a ground breaking game. FF7 gets my vote!
