Network Adapter for DSL...

Alright, this might not be the best forum to post this message on...but seeing as I have the network adapter AND broadband for the sole purpose of playing SOCOM, I figured maybe one of you guys out there would be able to help me out.

I've got DSL through Verizon. It goes through a standard phone line to the modem/router which is in my living room. The modem/router had PC ports come with it, and when I plugged the Ports into my computer, I get on DSL. Simple, yes? Well, here's the problem. The Network Adapter won't read any broadband whatsoever unless I've got an ethernet cord plugged into the adapter...but I don't know where the hell i'm going to plug it in! Oh sure, I can connect the cord to the adapter, but where too then? I mean, the DSL comes through the phone jack...and I can't exactly jam the ethernet connection into there. The only solutions I've thought of thus far are these:

1) Move the modem to my room (which wouldn't work anyways, at least not without some kind of dual-ethernet connection- the modem/router only has one outlet for an ethernet cable)

2) Get an ethernet port for my computer, and see if somehow running the ethernet cable to my computer from the PS2 Adapter will magically grant me access to the internet.

Needless to say, I'm fairly skeptical about the success of either of these solutions. If anybody has ANY ideas, please reply...or else you'll have one less person to shoot online

OK so let me get this straight. You plug a cord into the phone jack. That cord runs to your modem. Then from there your Ethernet cord runs to your pc. If this is the case (which I don't think it is) then just take the Ethernet cord out of your pc and into the adaptor. But if you do not need any Ethernet cord then that is the problem.

This is how mine works but I have something inside my computer. My modem has an Ethernet port for the wire that runs to my pc Ethernet port or adapter Ethernet port.

It sounds as if you may be screwed. But there may be some sort of extension that allows you to plug a normal phone line into an Ethernet cord. But I doubt it. The other thing you could try is getting a router and buying some Ethernet cord. (expensive, I know) But if you already bought the game then I suggest going through with it.

riven5,

Hi mate

The lead that goes from your Phone line to the modem do you know if this is a RJ-11 (The plug that goes into the modem) ??

You say you connect from the modem to the PC but what lead are you using to do this (i.e what lead goes from the modem to the PC to allow you to use DSL)

If you can provide more details on what type of connections and make and model of modem im sure we can help you further.

Spook
