Xbox will now retail for $179.99 instead of the current $199.99, with the price cut taking immediate effect. Sony yesterday reduced the PS2 to $169 to help clear stocks of the console prior to the launching of the PlayStation 2 Online Pack, which will feature both a console and network adapter.

As ever with price cuts, where one company leads the others inevitably follow, and the focus will now turn to Nintendo's Gamecube, which currently retails at $149.95, without any form of network adapter bundled, and lower weekly sales figures than both the Xbox and PlayStation 2.

I would've thought that the next price cuts would have been sometime later on, and in turn, have the prices go down more than this.

Ah, but hey... that's still pretty good news for anyone who is planning on buying a new console.

Hm, I would've liked it if Nintendo would've cut its prices too.
Hm, I'm speculating here, but maybe when the price does drop, the NGC will be around 110$-130$.

Hopefully this wont be so far off into the future.

mines is buggin out too..escpecially for FF8.

I usually put on the that feature that smooths out the graphics on ps1 gmes, but not anymore...the game starts skipping bigtime!
Like when i summon my GF, or cast a spell the game will sorta freeze up like it's trying to load.

It's good they're having price cuts. I still don't own my own PS2 or GC so the sooner they cut the prices the better.

Just cut the damn price of the games, dammit.

How can it be explained that I just put GRAND THEFT AUTO 3 on layaway (and note that the game is not marked as a GReatest Hit) and I just got it for 19 dollars. I did this in Walmart, and I know they are still making profit out of it, which means that the current price on games is absurdly high.

Good news for the ppl that's gonna buy new consoles, tho.

Nintendo is not planning on doing that. Instead they are putting up another bundle. Giving away Nintendo GameBoy Player, which lets you play your GBA games on TV with the GameCube controller if you want to.

So the price wont come down, but you will get some handy equipment with it.
