Kenshin and Kyo
Hello all! Here is another MS Paint drawing from me. For a while now, I've been wanting to draw a picture featuring two of my favorites samurai, Kenshin Himura and Kyo. So, I decided to do so on MS Paint (this was before I downloaded a Photoshop program). I tried to do the shading the way that Gadzoox told me to do, but I'm still so very bad at it. I hope you guys like it.
Kenshin and Kyo Some difficulties I encountered while drawing this picture were the hair (for both), shading, and Kyo. He was a hard one to draw.

Thank you mark0! I'm glad the hair turned out well...I was having such an incredibly tough time with figuring out shading for the hair...so I resulted with just basic zig-zags. Thanks again!

WOWO!!!
You said you had troubles with the guy? The black haired guy?! HE'S GORGEOUS!!! This is really really really great! You've managed to get two characters on one page and they don't compete for attention (though that black haired guy just sucked me right in!) and their proportions relate to each other perfectly, something I couldn't do if my life depended on it! The shading looks great, just keep at it and you'll get the hang of it soon enough, though it looks amazing right now! Actually, here's a link to a really good tutorial on hair shinies (I think) and colouring cell style that's easy to follow and done by a friend of mine! It helped me quite a bit! https://www.kina-ink.com/indexold.html Go to 'tutorials' and there are a bunch in there! Good luck and don't give up!!! |

The proportions being right is by luck, honestly. At first, I wanted Kenshin to be the focus and Kyo in the background. But as I kept drawing, Kyo just turned out a bit larger (due to his hair) and so I kept it that way. I'm glad it turned out okay. Quote:
Thanks for the feedback everyone, I appreciate it!

(this space occupied by speechlessness) anyways, I seriously looks like you traced it from the original or somthing! your lines are amazing, the proportions brilliant... considering that you've done it in MS Paint, the Lines don't even look jaggedy ... you were blessed with very steady hands Meryl ... The colours are similarly well put in there, with a great idea of light... and now you've got Photoshop... I can't wait!

That is probably the best picture I have seen using MSPaint. I believe if you can do this with MSPaint that your stuff would look really amazing using something better, though I don't think you should give up on MSPaint because your pictures that I have seen always turn out amazing. I hope you start putting up a lot more of your stuff.

hehe, I bought My Paintshop, but I'm sure you could Crack the Trial somehow, not that I know anything about how to do it. |

If you've got KaZaA Lite you can probably find either the whole program or a 'crack-er', heh.
I /love/ it when things work out by mistake! And there are TONS of other great tutorials on the net, just go to www.google.ca or something and to a search for 'Photoshop tutorials' or even go more specific! Glad I could help! |

That's really a nice pic meryl! I like the drawing very much, and the colors, with the opportunity of getting another program, would look a lot better IMO, but they're ok as they are!

I think it's fine the way it is, you could probably redo it in Photoshop when you get used to it.
