Favourite Solos
Maybe the music threads are becoming redundant but this can be kind of interesting.
What's everyone's favourite solos . . . guitar, bass, drums, vocal, etc, etc? I'll post other ones later but my favourite guitar solo is probably Jimmy Page's during Stairway to Heaven. Probably because it's so fitting and the lead into it is great . . . the moment where it stops and that ending groove kicks in at the climax is awesome too. |

Jimi Hendrix - Red House has to be one of my favorites, the way he slides into that vibrato note using that lick is amazing than those low notes, he really makes his guitar speak in that part....truely amazing! Love the bending!!!

How about bass solos from anyone?
The one that sticks out most in my head is probably Les Claypool on Primus' Those Damned Blue Collared Tweekers. The finger style beginning to it is so quick and clean and the whole thing is really creative, although kind of simple for Claypool standards. The Woodstock '94 version is also really good . . . especially when he adds in his homage to Hendrix' rendition of The Star Spangled Banner. And I agree with Faile on the Pumpkin's soloing on I am One. I've always loved that technique of dropping everything off to just bass and drums or one or the other (and Gish is one of my favourite albums of theirs). |
