Well, this is basically about GTA type of games. To be honest, I think Grand Theft Auto 3 has started a new "Genre", I dont know what could it be called. Cause right now its Action/Adventure, but it really shouldn't be called that. Its a totally different type of games.

And after the success of GTAIII and Vice City, soo many games are coming out soon with the same type of "GamePlay". So thats why I believe, its a birth of a new Genre.

Now GTAIII and Vice City, both are amazing titles, but do you guys think that identical games just might take over this series, if not soon, later in the future. Like Survival Horror was created by the game "Alone In The Dark".........but now if one speaks "Survival Horror", first thing that comes in mind is "Resident Evil".........

So games like Grand Theft Auto can teach the creator of the genre, one thing or two?.?.......
I know it may sound a little crazy, but I think The Getaway is slightly better then Vice City, may be because Vice City is too arcade type and The Getaway is more real. Neways.....

of course its going to happen, well with me, ive always luved grand theft auto scine the first one, you said gta3 has started a new genre with it, it has a bit, but to me its still the same kik ass game.
Do u think if gta4 comes out this year it will be as good as the others? and is it being showed at the E3?

I agree, GTA is a little OTT, but it's still fun. If you want a serious game, The Getaway is better, but, the Getaway wont have as much replay value as Vice City when you've done all missions (I doubt Free-Roaming London Tops destroying a city with an Apache and so on)

Well, I, As Makg, think that GTA has created (or better: made popular) a sort of sub-genre of the category Action/Adventure, like many new roleplaying games did during the last period with the RPG genre. Obviously, this means that GTA won't be the only game of this type in the future, and this also means that many games could easily become more refined and original with the passing of time than GTA. The first game of a new typology of games is not necessarily the best, so we'll have to wait and see what happens, hoping there won't be mere "clones" of Grand Theft Auto, but games able to improve this new sub-genre. adding new ideas both regarding the gampeplay itself and regarding the stories in general. Also, the fact GTA is not going to be the only game of its kind could be a good way for Grand Theft Auto games' creators themselves to be forced to add novelties to their games, in order to keep on interesting the players.

What about us few people dont like the idea of GTA at all and refuse to play the game. I think i am theonly one, but I have yet to buy, rent, borrow or even play GTA Vice City or 3. I find the game to be unnessary and choose not jump on the bandwagon and join the furry of this game. I think thats why me being a mod on this forum has been really good. I don't get into "the character" and monitor it for content and quality rather then stupidity. So if the poll was to read "I don't like the idea of the game and thus dont see the game as all that", I would vote for that option.

I may be exagerating, but Jj I think people like you (who dont like GTA type of games)......... have a percentage of 3%. I am not sure. From everyday customer in the last 4 months, I think I have met 1 person who said "Nah, I am not gonna buy Vice City, I dont know for some reason it does not intrest me"... only one person said that.

So its an assumption. Vice City making the most business shows the majority of people love those type or THAT particular game. Some people may not like it, because of the HYPE its getting from everybody around. I am not saying you are like that.

But still......... I am pretty sure there are few members at this forum as well who dont like the IDEA of GTA type of games.
