When I jumped to the back of the Flatbed, I couldn't move and the guy fell and my health started depleting rapidly.

Then I died, so I didn't want to try it anymore.

I have done that aswell
If you jump on the back of a flat bed it is ok !
But if you jump into the Barracks OL it will kill you when you fall over

right there's a helicopter up there...its easier all you have to do is find the starwell and walk up. you can't fly the copter though

you dont need to find a flatbed to do this. hop in the back of a pickup (called a bobcat?) and just ride around town in it while shooting people and lobbing grenades. watch out though if you shoot the truck your in it will spook the driver and he'll start drivin crazy.

You are right there, You cant fly the Copter!
but you can fly the Dodo & Tank !
& you dont use the steps to get there either , to geyt to the roof with the swimming pool , you need to fly there! Simple as
